About me

I am a qualified primary school teacher with a first class honours degree and over 25 years experience teaching children with a range of SEN in private, mainstream and specialist provisions. I am a dedicated SEN tutor (including working with students with dyslexia, autism, EBSA, ADD, ADHD, OCD, PDA and SEMH) and have worked with all age groups providing high quality tutoring.

Skills & Experience

Teaching Philosophy

Creativity is important to my teaching. As a tutor, I find out my students' interests and create enjoyable and interesting lessons specific to each individual. I believe success is accessible to every learner; it's a privilege to see my students flourish socially, emotionally and academically. Being patient, adaptable, caring, empathetic and understanding their needs means I create a relaxed and respectful environment conducive to learning.

Choose me if…

Providing support to young people with SEN, both in schools and for those who have struggled in a classroom environment, is what I am committed to. Nurturing all students with a variety of needs and helping them achieve their potential through high quality teaching and understanding is paramount in my approach. Developing a good relationship with my tutee is so important to me in order to increase their self-esteem and confidence and ignite their joy for learning.

Something Sensational About Me

After trying to work with many tutors who didn't quite fit, one of my tutees (with autism, EBSA, PDA and separation difficulties) found me and I've been working with him twice weekly ever since – five years now!

I love skiing, travel, outdoor pursuits, festivals and Cuban salsa dancing.
