About me

Hi, I'm Alex, and I am a dedicated and experienced tutor specialising in working with children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). With over 10 years of experience as a class teacher, a Master's degree with distinction in SEND and Inclusive Education and now working part time as an Advisory Teacher for Autism, I have developed tailored teaching strategies that cater to the unique learning styles and needs of each student. My approach is rooted in patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of the challenges that SEND students face.

Throughout my career, I have taught across mainstream and specialist schools and provisions, and supported students from ages 3-25 with learning both the national curriculum and adapted curriculums, with a great focus on strengthening communication skills, acquisition of life skills, and improved sense of wellbeing.

I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students, with varying strengths and challenges. I believe in creating a supportive and engaging learning experiences where students feel safe and motivated to explore their interests and strengths. By incorporating creative and flexible teaching methods, I aim to make learning enjoyable and accessible for all my students. My goal is to build their confidence and independence, empowering them to succeed both academically and personally. Furthermore, I am committed to working closely with parents and caregivers to ensure that we are meeting each child's specific needs.

With a passion for supporting students to reach their full potential, I look forward to the opportunity to support your child's learning journey.

Something Sensational About Me

Is my unwavering dedication to empowering young people with special educational needs to achieve their fullest potential through personalised, compassionate, and inspiring teaching methods. Not only am I incredibly passionate about teaching but I enjoy keeping abreast of developments in SEND, and researching, reading, writing and listening to podcasts on these topics. I am currently writing an article on the importance of eliciting child voices from neurodivergent children, to gain insight into their lived experience of school and inclusion.
